There's a philosophical question about what exactly "random" is, but its defining characteristic is definitely unpredictability. We are not able to talk about the unpredictability of only one quantity, considering that that quantity is precisely what it can be, but we could mention the unpredictability of the series of numbers (quantity sequence).
